Calling All Young Greek-Australian Filmmakers: Your Story Deserves the Spotlight

ΠΟΛΙΤΙΣΜΟΣ

Are you a young filmmaker with a passion for storytelling, identity, and culture? The Greek Festival of Sydney, in collaboration with the Department of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Sydney, has just launched a powerful new initiative – the 1st Greek Australian Youth Filmmaking Competition – and it’s calling on the next generation of cinematic voices to share their vision.

This isn’t just a competition. It’s a platform to amplify diverse experiences and to creatively explore what it means to be Greek Australian today. Through film, participants aged 18 to 30 are invited to interpret the theme “Greek Australian Panorama” – capturing the complex, beautiful, and ever-evolving intersections of Greek and Australian identity.

What They’re Looking For

Whether you’re experimenting with short fiction, documentary, music video, or film essay, the organizers want to see bold, authentic storytelling that reflects your unique voice. This is your chance to:

  • Speak the unspoken with raw, unfiltered honesty
  • Blend cultures through powerful visual narratives
  • Highlight unsung stories from within the Greek Australian community
  • Reimagine identity with poetic, boundary-pushing film

This competition is about creativity without compromise – storytelling that resonates with heart, vision, and originality.
