Greece Accelerates Digitization of Passport Process for Citizens Abroad
Greece is taking a major step forward by accelerating the transition to a digital passport issuing system for its overseas citizens. This move comes on the heels of the recent implementation of Article 60 by the Ministry of the Interior, focusing on land border station regulations.
The advancement stems from collaborative efforts between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Civil Protection, and Digital Governance. The main aim is to streamline the process of obtaining passports, thereby cutting down the time and expenses involved.
With the fulfillment of the required technical specifications, it is anticipated that consular operations will become more efficient. This is in line with the Foreign Ministry’s Strategic Plan for the Greek Diaspora for the years 2024-27, which prioritizes the enhancement of services for Greek nationals living abroad.
